The US Army happens to be the primary branch of US Armed Forces and is responsible for the land based military activities. It is the oldest and largest established branch in United States military, apart from being one of the 7 United States uniformed services. It has its origin in Continental Army that was formed in June 1775, prior to establishment of United States, for meeting the requirements of the War of American independence. The US Army was officially created by Congress of Confederation on June 3rd, 1784 after end of the American Revolution war for replacing the Continental Army. As it is, the Army regards itself a descendant of Continental Army; hence dates its foundation from origin of that armed force.

The US Army today makes use of a complex organization system for categorizing enlisted women and men by the Military Occupational Specialty or MOS as it is popularly known as. The Army MOS happens to be a particular job in the multifaceted commanding structure in the US Army, and ranges from rigging parachute for quartermaster corps to playing trumpet for Army band. Commissioned officers of the US Army get categorized in Areas of Concentration, instead of the Army MOS system, though both the systems are quite similar.

The US Army classifies Specialties according to career management fields. Within every field, the individual MOS may be found. The whole system features a group of codes. For example someone with MOS 98P, is a multi sensors operator in the military intelligence department. Such alpha numeric codes are flexible since specialties are eliminated and added for reflecting the altering nature of US military. AOC and MOS codes are also streamlined in order to enable similar codes to be used for the commissioned officers and enlisted people in same field.

As per the army mos list, infantry, air defense, field artillery, aviation, armor, special forces, engineering, military police corp, signals, special branch, army band, military intelligence, psychological operations, adjutant civil branch, civil affairs, public affairs, finance, chaplain branch, medical, mechanical maintenance, recruiting & retention, chemical warfare, transportation, electronic maintenance, ordnance branch, as well as quartermaster corps are all CMF. Within every field, people have numerous potential careers that they can pursue.

Jobs in US Army are very diverse, with recruits typically being placed in specialties that they’re best suited for. Apart from soldiers, the United States military also requires doctors, supply managers, accountants, and so on, and most of such jobs provide training that could be put to use in civilian world apart from the military. Recruits may also opt for Army MOS as their lifetime career, thereby gaining military ranks. All army MOSs characteristically require ability of relocating as and when required.

The US Army is an excellent career option. Besides serving the nation is always a matter of pride.
